Do not ignore your trees and plants this winter season!
Mother Nature has not provided much precipitation over the last few months, and it has been warm during the month of December reaching temperatures near the 70s. Even your dormant plants need water to continue establishing roots and to not dry out.
We suggest watering your established trees twice a month on warmer days. Each time you water you need to give them a deep soak. Trees that you have just planted need more water, and should be watered around 3 times a month after planting. When you do water them give them a deep soak and have the water a small distance from the tree to encourage the tree to spread its roots out and further down. This strong root structure will protect the plant from upheaving in heavy windstorms. For your shrubs look to water them around 3 times a month. If there is no precipitation or if it is consistently warm over the span of a couple days you may need to give them more water.
Trimming your trees and shrubs is done best in the winter. This is because the plant is dormant, so it is not trying to have new growth in its branches and the cold weather will prevent diseases that often occur when trimming during the summer.
Do not ignore your plants and allow them to thrive during all seasons.
